about

This is the 20th anniversary remaster of blunderspublik's "up jumpt the jynt sylents," originally released in 1998. Constructed using the software Impulse Tracker running in DOS, this is sample-based music (i.e. no virtual instruments were harmed in the making of this album). Samples were edited and effected in Cool Edit v.1.50, then I'd log out of Windows '95 and add each sample to the songs in Impulse Tracker. At the time I had no intention of releasing these songs until I was encouraged by a friend. Some mysterious French guys did the original "mastering," and the initial CD-R run was burned at 1x speed at a stranger's house who had a CD burner in Winnipeg! Two of the original IT files were lost in the intervening 20 years, so those songs were remastered from the original CD (and the original mastering).

I really enjoyed the process of sprucing up these songs, and I wouldn't be re-issuing this album if I didn't still love them too.

The first version did not include the songs "send+receive" or "slip mode" – these songs were added to a later version (1999?), and the songs are here presented in "Winnipeg Machete order," with the last 7 songs coming first. I have no idea why I decided to put the more "difficult" songs first in 1998...trying to be tuff maybe.
